On Tuesday, September 23rd, I gave my talk Gendered Fictions about Autism: Writing Better Representations of Autism into Fiction. For the first half of the event, I provided a brief presentation, and then the second half was reserved for discussion. I also donated a copy of Little White Flowers to Fogler Library.
It was a wonderful event. People asked such great questions, and we had some good conversations about gender, autism, and representation. I feel like these conversations are especially important now with all the public discourse around autism, and I am grateful to Elizabeth Neiman and the University of Maine WGS Department for providing me this opportunity. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible, attended, or helped spread the word!
